Broken leg? What?!

Poor Ethan, he broke his leg 2 weeks ago, just playing in the backyard. He is doing very well, what an amazing kid.

So I thought I would document a bit about our experience.
Day 1: Ethan playing in backyard, we hear some yelling, Naveen rushes in with Ethan in his arms, I saw a big bump on his leg and we rushed to the ER. They took X-rays and confirmed it was broken. Soft cast, pain medicine, home.
Day 2: Lots of pain but the pain medicine really works. Called our pediatrician to get an orthopedic referral, they saw us that same day and put on a hard cast and split in in case of swelling. This process really hurt. Ethan was very mad at all doctors that night. Still lots of pain when the pain medicine wears off.
Days 3 - 5: Ethan pretty much lays on the couch watching shows. Still quite a bit of pain but not as bad.
Days 6: Feeling a bit better. Crutches definitely will not work.
Day 7: Back to school for half days. We get wheelchair and this works out great.
Day 8: Back to orthopedist for 1 week check. Healing well.
Day 9 - 12: Still a bit of pain but not nearly so bad at all, ibuprofen once/day works fine. Back to school full time.
Day 15: Back to orthopedist - healing well - great news that he will either get the cast off or into a walking cast in 2 weeks. Pain is just about gone. He can maneuver his leg around a bit.
Week 5: Cast gets replaced with one just around the lower part of his leg. This is a big improvement. No pain at all. Within a few days he is walking around on his cast too.
Week 6: Cast removed - hooray! His ankle is pretty stiff so he is a little hobbly and limpy but he is doing great.
Overall, the broken leg was not as bad as I was initially thinking - once the pain subsides, Ethan was in great spirits, he did not complain hardly at all. But, I am hoping that is the last broken bone we have the misforutne of dealing with.
